About Archives and Special Collections
Mossey Library is home to the Hillsdale College Archives, as well as numerous other collections of archives and other historical material. The Library maintains the books and papers that support the college's Churchill Project, including the papers and library of Sir Martin Gilbert, Churchill's official biographer. Additional special and archival collections include the papers of Harry V. Jaffa, George E. Durell, and Richard Weaver, the libraries of Ludwig Von Mises and Russell Kirk, the Alwin C. Carus Coin Collection, a collection of political memorabilia donated by Judge James Rogan, and the Dr. Allan G. Schmidt and Mrs. Carla S. Schmidt Collection of historical letters. The Library also maintains a growing collection of rare books and other unique materials.
Many of the physical collections are currently in remote storage, and all are kept in locked areas. Please contact the Archivist and Special Collections Librarian, Lori Curtis, regarding access. A growing portion of the material, though, has been digitized and is availabable online via the links below.
