Heritage Room Use Policy

The primary purpose of the Richardson Heritage Room is to facilitate study and research using library resources. The library reserves the right to refuse reservations for groups meeting for other purposes. Reservations for groups not affiliated with Hillsdale College, recurring meetings of any sort, and meetings lasting more than three hours, are approved only in exceptional circumstances.

Reservations must be made by contacting the library at [email protected] or (517) 607-2701. Reservations will include a half hour before and after the event for setting up and resetting furniture.

Reservation requirements:

  • Groups reserving the room are responsible for setting the room as appropriate for their needs, and for resetting all furniture to its original location immediately after the event. The large center table should only be moved when absolutely necessary, and with prior, specific permission. The library can provide extra chairs on request.
  • Food and beverage service is not appropriate in most cases. Exceptions must be approved by the Library Director in advance. Alcoholic beverages may not be consumed anywhere in the library.
  • The library can provide a screen, speakers, a projector, and cables and adapters for connections to the projector on request. Laptops and setup are the responsibility of the presenter. Library staff must be notified when the presentation is complete, and loaned cables and adapters must be handed to a staff member.
